January 27, 2021 Announcements

It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!
Here are the announcements for Wednesday, January 27th:
Parents and Students: Please remember that there is no school on Friday (January 29th) as it is a Teacher Workday/Student Holiday. Students will return to school on Monday (February 1st) and begin the 2nd semester.
Don’t forget the Semester Exams this week!
Tuesday, January 26th - 1st and 2nd pd COMPLETED
Wednesday, January 27th - 3rd and 4th pd COMPLETED
Thursday, January 28th - 5th and 6th pd
All classes will be administering an exam/test during these exam days so please make sure students are on time and prepared. Please also minimize late check ins and early check outs to avoid the disruptions to classes. Remember that semester exams can count toward a significant portion of your semester grades.
Attention Juniors and Seniors: Each year in February, Santa Fe College has an informational Open House for its Construction, Auto, Welding, and Trades programs. In light of COVID-19, the Open House will be done virtually and we will be viewing it on the NHS campus during the school day on February 4th. If you are interested in participating in the viewing of the Open House, please sign up with Mrs. Cheggeh in the Guidance Office.

BASKETBALL: The girls’ Varsity team will travel to Williston High School (350 Robert Philpot Way, Williston, FL) tonight to take on the Bears beginning at 6:00 pm and tickets will be sold at the door. On Thursday (January 28th) the boys’ Freshman team will play Gainesville High School AT HOME at 5:00 pm and the girls’ Varsity team will play St. Francis School AT HOME beginning at 6:30 pm. Tickets for the AT HOME games are only available online at On Friday (January 29th) the girls’ and boys’ JV and Varsity teams will travel to Ft. White High School (17828 FL 47, Fort White, FL) to take on the Indians beginning at 4:30 pm and tickets for these games will be sold at the door.
Tickets for ALL REMAINING GAMES of the 2020-21 basketball season (both boys’ and girls’ teams), whether played at home or away within Alachua County, will only be available for sale online at THERE WILL BE NO TICKETS SOLD AT THE DOOR ON GAME DAYS FOR ANY BASKETBALL GAMES. Additionally, School Board Policy states that spectators MUST wear a mask AND social distance during games. NHS reserves the right to remove anyone who does not comply.
GIRLS’ LACROSSE: If you are interested in playing lacrosse this year, you will need to meet at the track this week at 3:15 pm. If you have any questions, see Coach Roundtree.
Today’s reminder:
Food and Drinks: There should be none in the buildings. NHS is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave campus for lunch. Students are not allowed to bring Polar Cups or “to go” cups to campus. Water bottles are encouraged and we have several bottle filling stations around campus.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts everyday for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something ( Everyone believes in your success but “whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right --Henry Ford” BUT most importantly, “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
