It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!
Here are the announcements for Monday, February 1st:
 
Newberry High School yearbooks are still on sale for the 2020-2021 school year! At this time, the yearbook cost is now $65.00 and a $5.00 deposit (exact cash or checks only) is required to reserve your copy. Please see Ms. Steele in the Media Center or contact her by email (steelesd@gm.sbac.edu) for more details or to place your deposit!
 
The H.O.P.E. Squad will hold a meeting tomorrow (February 2nd) and on Thursday (February 4th) during Lunch A and Lunch B in the auditorium. Students will need to get their lunch and immediately go to the auditorium to participate.
 
Thursday (February 4th) is Club Picture Day! Make sure to listen for the announcement for your Club to be released from class to have your picture taken. The Class of 2021 and Senior Vehicle pictures will also take place on February 4th at 8:15 am in the bus loop.
 
On Thursday (February 4th) Santa Fe College will hold its informational Open House for its Construction, Auto, Welding, and Trades programs as a virtual presentation. We will be viewing it on the NHS campus during the school day and students who signed up to participate will be given a pass to be released from class.
 
BASKETBALL: Tonight the boys’ JV and Varsity teams will play Dunnellon High School AT HOME at 6:00 pm. Tickets for the AT HOME games are only available online at www.gofan.co. On Tuesday (February 2nd) the boys’ JV and Varsity teams will play Interlachen High School AT HOME beginning at 6:00 pm. On Wednesday (February 3rd) the Freshmen, JV, and Varsity teams will play Gainesville High School AT HOME beginning at 4:30 pm. Tickets for all the AT HOME games are only available online at www.gofan.co.
 
Tickets for ALL REMAINING GAMES of the 2020-21 basketball season (both boys’ and girls’ teams), whether played at home or away within Alachua County, will only be available for sale online at https://gofan.co/app/school/FL17054. THERE WILL BE NO TICKETS SOLD AT THE DOOR ON GAME DAYS FOR ANY BASKETBALL GAMES. Additionally, School Board Policy states that spectators MUST wear a mask AND social distance during games. NHS reserves the right to remove anyone who does not comply.
 
GIRLS’ SOCCER: The girls’ team will play a district matchup against Williston High School at Keystone Heights High School (900 Orchid Avenue, Keystone Heights, FL) at 5:00 pm. The girls’ team will play again on Thursday (February 4th) against PK Yonge School at Keystone Heights High School (900 Orchid Avenue, Keystone Heights, FL) beginning at 5:00 pm. Tickets are available online at www.gofan.co.
 
BOYS’ SOCCER: The boys’ team will play a district matchup against Ft. White High School at Keystone Heights High School (900 Orchid Avenue, Keystone Heights, FL) at 5:00 pm. The boys’ team will play again on Friday (February 5th) against Keystone Heights High School at Keystone Heights High School (900 Orchid Avenue, Keystone Heights, FL) beginning at 5:00 pm. Tickets are available online at www.gofan.co.
 
Today’s reminder:
Tardies: Whether you attend school through the digital academy or as a brick and mortar student, tardies impact school success and student behavior, are a distraction to all students, and cause a disruption in teaching. Make sure you’re on time every day, to every class. Excessive tardies may result in lunch detention or ISD.
 
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts everyday for important announcements and reminders.
