April 28, 2021 Announcements

It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!
Here are the announcements for Wednesday, April 28th:
The School District has provided an update to COVID-19 protocols. Masks are to be worn inside all buildings on the NHS campus at all times, unless students are eating or drinking. Masks are now optional when you are outside. Please continue to wash your hands as often as possible and maintain social distancing when able to.
Students in the Criminal Justice Academy will take articulation tests at NHS through an agreement with Santa Fe College tomorrow. Make sure you are on time!
Student Government will be accepting applications for rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, and for the student body offices as well. The applications are in Mr. Marlowe's room, and they are due by this Friday, April 30th. It's time to get involved and make a difference!
We're having a "try it" session for next year's percussion section after school this Friday, April 30th. Additionally, pre-season training for the fall color guard will be starting on May 3rd from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm. No experience needed. See Mr. DeRemer in the band room for more information.
TRACK & FIELD: The track and field team will compete in regional competition this Saturday, May 1st, at Satellite Beach High School in Satellite Beach, Florida. We have 7 team members who qualified to compete at this level and we wish those Panthers all the best!
SIDELINE CHEER: The sideline cheer squad will be holding tryouts in the NHS gym on May 26th (changed date). Open gym, in order to work on skills, will be conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 20th. Clinics to prepare for tryouts will be on May 22nd, May 24th, and May 25th. Interested participants must either have a current physical on file with NHS or bring one with them to the open gym night.
BASEBALL: The Varsity team will play in the 1A District 7 Championship game on Thursday, April 29th, AT Williston High School at 7:00 pm. Tickets for the playoff game are available at the gate on the day of the game.
Today’s reminder:
Updated COVID-19 Guidelines: Masks are to be worn inside at all times, unless students are eating or drinking. Masks are optional when you are outside. Please continue to wash your hands, practice social distancing, and don’t share any items.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts everyday for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something ( Everyone believes in your success but “whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right --Henry Ford” BUT most importantly, “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
