April 29, 2021 Announcements

It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!
Here are the announcements for Thursday, April 29th:
The School District has provided an update to COVID-19 protocols. Masks are to be worn inside all buildings on the NHS campus at all times, unless students are eating or drinking. Masks are now optional when you are outside. Please continue to wash your hands as often as possible and maintain social distancing when able to.
The F.C.A. will hold its meeting in Mrs. Harris’ room before school tomorrow at 8:10 am. Everyone is welcome so feel free to stop by and participate!
Student Government will be accepting applications for rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors, and for the student body offices as well. The deadline to submit an application to Mr. Marlowe is tomorrow.
We're having a "try it" session for next year's percussion section after school tomorrow. Additionally, pre-season training for the fall color guard will be starting on May 3rd from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm. No experience needed. See Mr. DeRemer in the band room for more information about both activities.
Newberry High School Prom 2021 will take place this year at the beautiful Granville Plantation on Friday, May 7th. Tomorrow is the last day to buy tickets. Tickets are $65.00 per ticket and can be purchased from Mrs. Kathi Thomas in the Media Center. You must be off the debt list to purchase tickets. Also, if you are bringing a guest please stop by the media center to double check that your guest has been approved. Don’t forget to submit your nominations for Prom King and Queen!
TRACK & FIELD: The track and field team will compete in regional competition this Saturday, May 1st, at Satellite Beach High School in Satellite Beach, Florida. We have 7 team members who qualified to compete at this level and we wish those Panthers all the best!
SIDELINE CHEER: The sideline cheer squad will be holding tryouts in the NHS gym on May 26th (changed date). Open gym, in order to work on skills, will be conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays through May 20th. Clinics to prepare for tryouts will be on May 22nd, May 24th, and May 25th. Interested participants must either have a current physical on file with NHS or bring one with them to the open gym night.
BASEBALL: The Varsity team will play in the 1A District 7 Championship game tonight AT Williston High School at 7:00 pm. Tickets for the playoff game are available at the gate on the day of the game.
Today’s reminder:
Dress Code: Make sure your school attire is appropriate and not distracting. As the weather gets cooler, please remember that you are not permitted to wear pajama pants or bring blankets to school. Do not wear hats or hoodies in the buildings. Failure to follow the dress code guidelines may result in lunch detention.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts everyday for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something ( Everyone believes in your success but “whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right --Henry Ford” BUT most importantly, “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
