November 4, 2022 Announcements
It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 🐾
Here are the announcements for Friday, November 4th:
Panthers, don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour this weekend as Daylight Savings time ends otherwise you will be extra early everywhere you go on Sunday. (PS At least you can get an extra hour of sleep!)
All our Panthers are invited to participate in our yearbook cover contest. Students will design and draw a picture for our 2022-23 yearbook on a standard size sheet of paper (8.5” x 11”, white only). Students can also design a cover digitally and submit it to Mrs. Gennaro. The deadline for submission is Thursday (November 10th) either in person or by email to Ms. Gennaro (firstname.lastname@example.org). The design must use the theme “Mystery and Mayhem” and should use the colors black, blue, and gold (think of an old-timey detective agency). The student whose artwork is selected for the yearbook cover will win a free yearbook!
Seniors, ads for the 2022-23 yearbook are now on sale. The deadline to purchase is Thursday (December 15th). Information can be found on the NHS website or you can see Ms. Gennaro for more information.
The 9th Grade PowderBuff team will hold a practice on Monday (November 7th) before school at 7:50 am in the NHS Gym. Don’t be late!
The Archery Club will meet Monday (November 7th) after school at 3:00 pm in Mr. Marlowe’s classroom.
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) will be given on the NHS campus during the school day on Tuesday (November 8th) to any student in 10th through 12th grade. If you are interested and haven’t signed up yet, there’s still time to stop by the NHS Guidance Office to sign up!
Representatives from High School High Tech will be in the NHS Commons Area on Tuesday (November 8th) during Lunch A and Lunch B to answer any questions about this great program. Make sure to stop by and get information if you’re interested!
We still have ECF Chromebook laptops available for distribution to any NHS student. These laptops are equipped with 4G LTE, which will allow school-based internet access for homework and school projects. If you are interested in obtaining a laptop for your child, please contact Ms. Steele (email@example.com) in the NHS Media Center as soon as possible.
Panthers, please remember that as the weather begins to turn cooler outside, blankets are not allowed at school. Also, you must still follow all dress code policies, including not wearing pajamas, slippers, or any type of head coverings. Only appropriate warm-weather clothing is permitted to be worn on campus.
We want all our Panthers to remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
Phones and Headphones: These must be off and out of sight, both in class and during class changes. Cell phones, earbuds, airpods, headphones, and other electronic devices are only permitted to be in use before and after school, and during lunch periods. Students who are discovered to have any types of these devices may result in disciplinary action.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
