September 5, 2023 Announcements

It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 🐾
Here are the announcements for Tuesday, September 5th:
Tickets for the Homecoming Dance can now be purchased before school every day in Mr. Marlowe’s classroom. The Dance will be held Saturday (September 16th) to kick off this year’s Homecoming Week, and tickets are only $15.00. Make sure to get your tickets before they sell out!
Lady Panthers, if you are interested in playing soccer this year, there will be a meeting in the NHS East TA today after school at 3:00 pm. See Mr. Coach Roundtree if you have any questions.
Conditioning and agility workouts for softball players will begin this week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Meet out in front of the NHS Gym at 4:00 pm in order to participate. Wear running shoes and sports attire, and bring water and your physical forms if they haven’t already been turned in. See Coach Johnson or Mrs. Coach Roundtree if you have any questions.
Student Parking Decals will be sold before school in the NHS CJ Building starting tomorrow. The cost for the annual parking pass is $30.00, which can be paid by cash or check (payable to Newberry High School). Please bring a copy of your driver’s license and vehicle registration with you to get your parking pass. ALL STUDENTS parking on NHS school property MUST have a parking decal. Parking tickets will be issued beginning on Monday (September 11th). Parking is ONLY permitted in designated areas (junior and senior parking lots) and NO parking is allowed in any other areas on campus, including along the gym or the football field. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Treese.
Representatives from the US Army are scheduled to be on the NHS campus tomorrow during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
Representatives from the Santa Fe Achieve Program will be in the NHS Media Center every Monday and Wednesday. This program provides students with mentoring opportunities during high school and coaches students on career exploration, time management, financial aid, and more. Make sure to stop by and get more information if you are interested.
A recruiter from the US Air Force will be on the NHS campus on Thursday (September 14th) visiting with students by appointment only. If you are interested in meeting with the recruiter while he is here, please sign up in the NHS Guidance Office as soon as possible. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!
We want all our Panthers to remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
Today’s Reminder:
Tardies: Tardies impact school success and student behavior, are a distraction to all students, and cause a disruption in teaching. Make sure you’re on time every day, to every class. Excessive tardies may result in lunch detention or ISD.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
