September 11, 2023 Announcements
It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!

Here are the announcements Monday, September 11th:
Thank you to all our Panthers who participated in the Moment of Silence this morning as we remembered those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks 22 years ago.
Representatives from the US Marine Corps are scheduled to be on the NHS campus tomorrow during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
After school CROP sessions will begin today in Ms. Burkett’s classroom from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Students who were recommended to participate in order to retrieve credits for graduation received an email last week with information for attendance. If you have any questions, please contact the NHS Guidance Office ASAP.
Winter cheer tryouts will be held in the NHS Auditorium after school today from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm. All necessary paperwork will be handed out at tryouts.
The Blue Crew will meet tomorrow morning before school in the NHS Media Center at 8:00 am. Make sure to be there or see Mrs. Kathi Thomas if you would like to join.
Tickets for the Homecoming Dance can now be purchased every day before school in Mr. Marlowe’s classroom. The Dance will be on Saturday (September 16th) to kick off this year’s Homecoming Week, and tickets are only $15.00. They are going fast, so make sure to get your tickets before they sell out!
Parking tickets will be issued starting today. Student Parking Decals are now available for purchase before school in the NHS CJ Building. The cost for the annual parking pass is $30.00, which can be paid by cash or check (payable to Newberry High School). Please bring a copy of your driver’s license and vehicle registration with you to get your parking pass. ALL STUDENTS parking on NHS school property MUST have a parking decal.
The Tabletop Club will hold their first meeting tomorrow after school in the NHS Media Center. If you are interested in joining, feel free to stop by. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Phillips.
Are you interested in joining the NHS Environmental Club? The Club’s first meeting will be Wednesday (September 13th) before school at 8:00 am in Mrs. Disabb's classroom.
A representative from LifeSouth will be in the NHS Commons Area during Lunch A and Lunch B tomorrow to sign up any Panthers who are 17 years old (or 16 years old with parental consent) who are interested in donating blood. The NHS Blood Drive will be on Wednesday (September 13th) in the NHS Auditorium. See Nurse Strickland if you have any questions.
A recruiter from the US Air Force will be on the NHS campus on Thursday (September 14th) visiting with students by appointment only. If you are interested in meeting with the recruiter while he is here, please sign up in the NHS Guidance Office as soon as possible. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!
We want all our Panthers to remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
Today’s Reminder:
Tardies: Tardies impact school success and student behavior, are a distraction to all students, and cause a disruption in teaching. Make sure you’re on time every day, to every class. Excessive tardies may result in lunch detention or ISD.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
