November 3, 2023 Announcements

It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 🐾
Here are the announcements for Friday, November 3rd:
Come out and show our Volleyball Class 1A Regional Champs your love and support, and send them off on Sunday (November 5th) at 2:15 pm as they travel to Polk State College in Winter Haven FL to play for the State Championship! Make sure to line up on Newberry Road between City Hall and Main Street Sweets and Eats no later than 2:00 pm. Wear your Blue and Gold, make some noise, and let them know we're their biggest fans.
Representatives from the US Army National Guard are scheduled to be on the NHS campus on Monday (November 6th) during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
Representatives from the Santa Fe Achieve Program will be back in the NHS Media Center on Monday (November 6th). Make sure to stop by and get more information if you are interested.
After school CROP sessions will continue next week on Monday (November 6th) through Thursday (November 9th) in Ms. Burkett’s classroom from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
The Robotics Club will meet before school on Tuesday (November 7th) at 8:00 am in Ms. Troy’s classroom.
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) will be offered on the NHS campus during the school day on Wednesday (November 15th) to any student in 10th through 12th grade. This is an informative aptitude test used to determine qualification for enlistment in the military. Make sure to stop by the NHS Guidance Office to sign up if you are interested in taking the ASVAB Test. Remember, this test is only given once a year so don’t miss your chance to take it!
Panthers, to allow our Volleyball team to prepare for and participate in the State Championship playoffs next week, our Annual PowderBuff tournament has been postponed until Friday (December 1st) in the NHS Gym. If you are interested in playing, please speak with your class representatives.
We hope you find these Daily Announcements a useful resource for the happenings at NHS. These posts are also shared on our NHS website (https://www.sbac.edu/newberryhigh) and remain available there for the entire school year. Don’t forget to visit the NHS Student Information Center (https://www.sbac.edu/domain/5439) for information regarding NHS activities and events, testing, and graduation requirements, as well as assistance with post-secondary plans.
We want all our Panthers to remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
Today’s Reminder:
Food and Drinks: There should be no food or drinks in the buildings which are from outside campus. NHS is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave campus for lunch. Additionally, you may not have food dropped off or delivered to you. Students are not allowed to bring Polar Cups or “to go” cups to campus. Water bottles are encouraged and we have several bottle filling stations around campus.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
