August 19, 2024 Announcement
It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!
Here are the announcements for Monday, August 19th:
Panthers, don't forget to bring your laptop and charging cord to school EVERY DAY. These laptops provide important access to digital textbooks and assist students in transitioning between classwork, testing, and homework. (If your laptop has stopped working or has other operational issues, please bring it so the NHS Site Tech, Mr. Phillips, can investigate and diagnose any issues.)
Open Gym will be held this week - Monday (August 19th) and Thursday (August 22nd) - for any boys interested in playing basketball this year. Don’t forget that you must have a physical on file to participate. See Coach Roundtree if you have any questions.
The Sophomore Student Government Association (SGA) will meet tomorrow morning before school at 8:00 am in Mrs. Troy’s classroom. Don’t be late!
Preseason workouts will begin after school tomorrow for any girls interested in becoming a Lady Panther basketball player. Please remember you must have a current physical on file in order to participate. Please see Coach Hughes if you have any questions.
The National Honor Society will meet on Wednesday (August 21st) before school at 8:00 am in Mrs. Troy’s classroom.
The Robotics Club will hold an informational meeting before school on Thursday (August 22nd) at 8:00 am in Mrs. Troy’s classroom. Make sure to stop by if you are interested.
REMINDER: The deadline to complete and turn in the (Extra Credit) Summer Reading is this Sunday (August 25th). Review the email which was previously sent or visit the Important Information section on the Newberry High School website (https://www.sbac.edu/newberryhigh) and look for the "Summer Reading Assignments" for all the information required to complete these assignments. Don’t miss out on this amazing chance to start earning those awesome grades!
MESSAGE TO LAST YEAR’S Lady Panther softball players from Mrs. Coach Roundtree: Please return all uniforms to her by the end of the week for inventory purposes. Please bring any and all uniforms you still have in your possession to her or her classroom as soon as possible.
We want all our Panthers to remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
TODAY’S REMINDER:
Dress Code: Make sure your school attire is appropriate and not distracting. You may not wear baggy/saggy pants and bottoms will not be shorter than “mid thigh”. Tops must cover the midriff, back, and sides of the body at all times. You may not wear bedroom slippers or shoes with wheels. Head coverings of any kind are not permitted to be worn inside. Failure to follow the dress code guidelines may result in lunch detention.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
