It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!
Here are the announcements for Tuesday, October 22nd:
REMINDER: NHS is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave campus for lunch. Additionally, students may not have food dropped off or delivered to them at campus. Students are not allowed to bring Polar Cups or “to go” cups to campus. Water bottles are encouraged and we have several bottle filling stations around campus.
Conditioning will continue after school today and Thursday (October 24th) for any boys interested in playing basketball this year. You MUST participate in conditioning this week if you anticipate trying out for the team. Tryouts will be after school on Monday (October 28th) on the outside courts beginning at 3:00 pm.
Tryouts for any girls interested in playing Lady Panthers basketball this year will be after school on Monday (October 28th) in the NHS Gym beginning at 3:30 pm. Don’t be late!
After school CROP sessions for students who are credit deficient for graduation will continue after school this week, today through Thursday (October 24th), in Ms. Burkett’s classroom from 3:00 pm until 6:15 pm. There are many remaining dates and it’s not too late to participate! If you have any questions, please contact the NHS Guidance Office ASAP.
The Freshmen SGA will meet before school tomorrow at 8:00 am in the NHS Media Center.
A representative from the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Services (IFAS) will be at the NHS campus tomorrow during Lunch A and Lunch B to speak with students about the amazing opportunities they offer. Representatives from the US Army are scheduled to be on the NHS campus tomorrow during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
The NHS Book Club will hold a meeting after school tomorrow from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm in Ms. Talkington’s classroom in the Science Building. All are welcome!
Report Cards for the 1st nine weeks of this school year will be available in Skyward on Thursday (October 24th).
The FCA will have a meeting before school this Friday (October 25th) at 8:10 am in the NHS Gym. If you’d like to become involved, make sure to stop by!
Remember that the Flu Mist vaccine will be given to students who returned a signed consent form on Friday (October 25th) during the school day. If you are interested in your child receiving Flu Mist, please contact the NHS Nurse ASAP.
Representatives from the Santa Fe Achieve Program will be in the NHS Commons Area on Friday (October 25th) during Lunch A and Lunch B to speak with students about their amazing program and answer any questions you may have. Don’t forget that the ASVAB will be given on the NHS campus during the school day on Wednesday (November 6th) to any interested 10th through 12th grade student. This test is an informative aptitude test and is used to determine qualification for enlistment in the military. This test is only given once a year so don’t miss your chance to take it!

TODAY’S REMINDER:
Phones and Headphones: These must be off and out of sight during class, unless your teacher gives specific permission for use. Cell phones, earbuds, airpods, headphones, and other electronic devices are only permitted to be in use before and after school, and during lunch periods. Students who have any types of these devices out when not permitted may receive disciplinary action.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders.
