It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 

Here are the announcements for Tuesday, January 14th:
The NHS College Fair is tonight from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm in the NHS Gymnasium. All area high school students and their parents are invited to attend this event, and prior registration is not required. Visit the NHS website for more information: https://www.sbac.edu/Page/31745. Make sure to speak with your NHS Guidance Counselor if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you then!
REMINDER: NHS is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave campus for lunch. Additionally, students may not have food dropped off or delivered to them at campus. Students are not allowed to bring Polar Cups or “to go” cups to campus. Water bottles are encouraged and we have several bottle filling stations around campus.
Baseball tryouts will be held today right after school at the NHS Baseball Field. You must have your physical and athletic clearance completed before being eligible to try out.
Girls’ basketball practice has been canceled for today.
The Freshmen SGA will meet before school tomorrow at 8:00 am in the NHS Media Center.
Representatives from the Santa Fe Achieve Program will be back in the NHS Media Center tomorrow. Make sure to stop by and get more information if you are interested in this fantastic program. Visit their website for more information about this opportunity: https://www.sfcollege.edu/prepare/achieve/
Representatives from the US Army are scheduled to be on the NHS campus tomorrow during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
The NHS Book Club will hold a meeting after school tomorrow from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm in Ms. Talkington’s classroom in the Science Building. All are welcome!
There will be a mandatory robotics meeting before school on Thursday (January 16th) at 8:00 am in Ms. Troy’s classroom. Don’t be late!
Seniors, don't forget to get your graduation caps and gowns ordered as the deadline is QUICKLY approaching. Order forms and information packets can be found in the NHS Front Office or you may order online directly at orders.jostens.com
The FCA will have a meeting this Thursday (January 16th) before school at 8:10 am in the NHS Gym. If you’d like to become involved, make sure to stop by!
Parents and Students, please remember that there is no school scheduled for this Friday (January 17th) as there is a scheduled Teacher Workday to finalize our first semester grades.
Additionally, please remember there will be no school on Monday (January 20th) in order to honor the achievements of the civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr. on his birthday.
Tryouts and practices for our girls’ lacrosse team will begin on Tuesday (January 21st) at Oak View Middle School from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm. All physicals and forms must be completed and turned in before participating. See Coach Roundtree if you have any questions.
Softball tryouts will be held promptly at 3:30 pm on Tuesday (January 21st) at the NHS Softball Field. Any girls interested in trying out for the NHS softball program will need to have all physical and participation forms completed prior to the tryout date. If the appropriate forms are not complete, you may not try out. Forms can be found in the NHS Front Office and online. Please bring all equipment needed to run, field, catch, throw, and hit. If you have any additional questions, see Mrs. Coach Roundtree.

TODAY’S REMINDER:
Phones and Headphones: These must be off and out of sight during class, unless your teacher gives specific permission for use. Cell phones, earbuds, airpods, headphones, and other electronic devices are only permitted to be in use before and after school, and during lunch periods. Students who have any types of these devices out when not permitted may receive disciplinary action.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult.
