January 21, 2025 Announcements

It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 🐾
Here are the announcements for Tuesday, January 21st:
REMINDER: NHS is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave campus for lunch. Additionally, students may not have food dropped off or delivered to them at campus. Students are not allowed to bring Polar Cups or “to go” cups to campus. Water bottles are encouraged and we have several bottle filling stations around campus.
Parents and Students, please remember that there is no school tomorrow due to the approaching Winter Storm. We anticipate schools reopening on Thursday and look forward to seeing everyone then. This missed school day will not have to be made up due to the instructional minutes gained during the 2024-25 school year through the reduction in the number of early release Wednesdays for elementary schools.
Seniors, if you put a deposit down for Grad Bash at Universal Studios, it is now time to pay off any remaining balance owed. Please see Mr. Marlowe no later than February 14th in order to keep your seat!
Students, please remember that even though it is getting cooler outside blankets are not allowed at school. Also, you must still follow all dress code policies, including not wearing pajamas, slippers, or any type of head coverings. If you have any questions, please see Dean Burford or Dean Hines.
Seniors, don't forget to get your graduation caps and gowns ordered as the deadline is QUICKLY approaching. Order forms and information packets can be found in the NHS Front Office or you may order online directly at orders.jostens.com
Tryouts and practices for our girls’ lacrosse team will be held today at Oak View Middle School from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm. All physicals and forms must be completed and turned in before participating. See Coach Roundtree if you have any questions.
Softball tryouts will be held today promptly at 3:30 pm at the NHS Softball Field. Any girls interested in trying out for the NHS softball program will need to have all physical and participation forms completed prior to the tryout date. If the appropriate forms are not complete, you may not try out. Forms can be found in the NHS Front Office and online. Please bring all equipment needed to run, field, catch, throw, and hit. If you have any additional questions, see Mrs. Coach Roundtree.
Report Cards for the first semester will be available for viewing in Skyward on Thursday (January 23rd). If you have any issues in viewing the report card or are unable to access Skyward, please contact Mrs. Honeycutt in the NHS Guidance Office for assistance.
We are committed to the success of ALL our students! Panthers, please remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
TODAY’S REMINDER:
Dress Code: Make sure your school attire is appropriate and not distracting. You may not wear baggy/saggy pants and bottoms will not be shorter than “mid thigh”. Tops must cover the midriff, back, and sides of the body at all times. You may not wear bedroom slippers or shoes with wheels. Head coverings of any kind are not permitted to be worn inside. Failure to follow the dress code guidelines may result in lunch detention.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
