It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 

Here are the announcements for Monday, February 24th:
REMINDER: For the safety and security of everyone on campus, please DO NOT open the entrance gate for anyone, even if you think you may know them. Students and visitors MUST ONLY be let into our campus by staff in the NHS Front Office. If you are asked to open the gate, please let them know that they must ring the bell to be buzzed in.
SENIORS: Nominations for Class of 2025 Senior Superlatives are TOMORROW during your 1st period class. This will be your ONLY chance to make your nominations for Senior Superlatives so make sure to BE ON TIME! There will not be any make-up voting.
The Sophomore SGA will meet before school tomorrow at 8:00 am in Mrs. Troy’s classroom.
Representatives from the US Marine Corps are scheduled to be on the NHS campus tomorrow during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
After school CROP sessions for students who are credit deficient for graduation will continue this week (today through Thursday) in Ms. Burkett’s classroom from 3:00 pm until 5:30 pm. If you have any questions, please contact the NHS Guidance Office ASAP.
Quarter 3 Progress Reports will be available in Skyward tomorrow. If you have any issues in viewing the report card or are unable to access Skyward, please contact Mrs. Honeycutt in the NHS Guidance Office for assistance.
We want to congratulate those Panthers who are members of the Honor Roll for Quarter 2. Those students have earned a Kona Ice treat tomorrow, so make sure to get your icy treat when the announcements are made. Quarter 3 will give you Panthers another opportunity for an amazing Honor Roll reward, so keep up the great work.
The Spanish Club will hold a meeting after school tomorrow from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm in Seňora Santiago’s classroom. Te esperamos!
The Freshmen SGA will meet before school on Wednesday (February 26th) at 8:00 am in the NHS Media Center.
Representatives from the Santa Fe Achieve Program will be back in the NHS Media Center on Wednesday (February 26th). Make sure to stop by and get more information if you are interested in this fantastic program. The NHS Book Club will hold a meeting after school on Wednesday (February 26th) from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm in Ms. Talkington’s classroom in the Science Building. All are welcome!
February is Black History Month. Each day we will be showcasing notable Black inventors and/or African Americans who have made significant contributions in various fields. Today we celebrate John Lee Love, inventor of the pencil sharpener, a simple yet impactful tool in educational settings.

TODAY’S REMINDER:
Dress Code: Make sure your school attire is appropriate and not distracting. You may not wear baggy/saggy pants and bottoms will not be shorter than “mid thigh”. Tops must cover the midriff, back, and sides of the body at all times. You may not wear bedroom slippers or shoes with wheels. Head coverings of any kind are not permitted to be worn inside. Failure to follow the dress code guidelines may result in lunch detention.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult.
