October 20, 2022 Announcements

It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 🐾
Here are the announcements for Thursday, October 20th:
A representative from Herff Jones will be on the NHS campus on Monday (October 24th) to meet with the senior class and provide ordering information for graduation announcements, memorabilia, and caps and gowns.
There will be an archery meeting after school at 3:00 pm on Monday (October 24th) in Mr. Marlowe’s classroom.
Report cards for the first quarter of the school year will be available in Skyward on Tuesday (October 25th). If you are unable to view the Progress Report in Skyward after that date, please contact the NHS Guidance Office for assistance.
Tryouts for the boys’ basketball teams will be on Monday (October 31st) beginning at 3:30 pm. Please make sure to have all your forms turned in. Please see Coach Roundtree if you have any questions.
Our Annual Holiday Food Drive is going on now and we need your help! Each year, we try to fill boxes with items to provide Thanksgiving dinners for 30 of our Panther families. Each 1st period class has a box with a list of all the items necessary for the box to be complete. Feel free to put extra items in the box, but the box will only "count" if it contains everything on the list. We have a "Box Drive Banner" displayed in the NHS Commons Area to keep track of how we are doing in terms of our goal and the 1st period class that collects the most boxes will win a gourmet breakfast party!
Throughout the month of October, the DnD Club will be hosting a book drive. There are drop boxes set up around the NHS campus for you to donate your unwanted books! Please see Ms. Phillips if you have any questions.
Panthers, please remember that as the weather begins to turn cooler outside, blankets are not allowed at school. Also, you must still follow all dress code policies, including not wearing pajamas, slippers, or any type of head coverings. Only appropriate warm-weather clothing is permitted to be worn on campus.
We want all our Panthers to remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
Today’s Reminder:
Dress Code: Make sure your school attire is appropriate and not distracting. You may not wear baggy/saggy pants and bottoms will not be shorter than “mid thigh”. Tops must cover the midriff, back, and sides of the body at all times. You may not wear bedroom slippers or shoes with wheels. Head coverings of any kind are not permitted to be worn inside. Failure to follow the dress code guidelines may result in lunch detention.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day throughout the summer for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
