It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 🐾
Here are the announcements for Wednesday, October 26th:
Report cards for the first 9 weeks of the school year will be available in Skyward tomorrow. If you are unable to view the Progress Report in Skyward after that date, please contact the NHS Guidance Office for assistance.
We still have ECF Chromebook laptops available for distribution to any NHS student. These laptops are equipped with 4G LTE, which will allow school-based internet access for homework and school projects. If you are interested in obtaining a laptop for your child, please contact Ms. Steele ( in the NHS Media Center as soon as possible.
The National Honor Society will have a meeting tomorrow morning before school at 8:00 am in Ms. Schentrup’s classroom.
Representatives from the US Air Force will be on the NHS campus tomorrow during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
There will be ServSafe Testing tomorrow right after school in the Culinary Arts classroom. Don’t be late!
The Student Body SGA will have a meeting on Friday (October 28th) before school at 8:00 am in Mr. Marlowe’s classroom.
Student/Athletes: Don’t forget that a representative from Neff Co will be on the NHS campus on Friday (October 28th) for jacket fittings and to take Letterman Jacket orders during Lunch A and Lunch B. You can also visit the Neff Co website at to see your options and/or place your order online. Order forms are also available in the NHS Front Office.
We want to remind everyone that costumes are not permitted to be worn on Monday (October 31st). Despite that day being the Halloween holiday, all students must still comply with dress code requirements…so make sure your school attire is appropriate and not distracting.
Tryouts for the boys’ basketball teams will be on Monday (October 31st) beginning at 3:30 pm. Please make sure to have all your forms turned in. Please see Coach Roundtree if you have any questions.
Seniors, representatives from Herff Jones will return to the NHS campus on Tuesday (November 1st) and Wednesday (November 2nd) to accept orders and deposits in the NHS Commons Area during Lunch A and Lunch B.
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) will be given on the NHS campus during the school day on Tuesday (November 8th) to any student in 10th through 12th grade. This is an informative aptitude test used to determine qualification for enlistment in the military. Make sure to stop by the NHS Guidance Office to sign up if you are interested in taking the ASVAB Test. Remember, this test is only given once a year so don’t miss your chance to take it!
Throughout the month of October, the DnD Club will be hosting a book drive. There are drop boxes set up around the NHS campus for you to donate your unwanted books! Please see Ms. Phillips if you have any questions.
Panthers, please remember that as the weather begins to turn cooler outside, blankets are not allowed at school. Also, you must still follow all dress code policies, including not wearing pajamas, slippers, or any type of head coverings. Only appropriate warm-weather clothing is permitted to be worn on campus.

Today’s Reminder:
Food and Drinks: There should be no food or drinks in the buildings which are from outside campus. NHS is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave campus for lunch. Additionally, you may not have food dropped off or delivered to you. Students are not allowed to bring Polar Cups or “to go” cups to campus. Water bottles are encouraged and we have several bottle filling stations around campus.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something ( “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
