October 27, 2022 Announcements
It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!
Here are the announcements for Thursday, October 27th:
Report cards for the first 9 weeks of the school year are now available in Skyward. If you are unable to view the Progress Report in Skyward after that date, please contact the NHS Guidance Office for assistance.
The Student Body SGA will have a meeting tomorrow before school at 8:00 am in Mr. Marlowe’s classroom.
We want to remind everyone that costumes are not permitted to be worn on Monday (October 31st). Despite that day being the Halloween holiday, all students must comply with dress code requirements…so make sure your school attire is appropriate and not distracting.
We still have ECF Chromebook laptops available for distribution to any NHS student. These laptops are equipped with 4G LTE, which will allow school-based internet access for homework and school projects. If you are interested in obtaining a laptop for your child, please contact Ms. Steele (firstname.lastname@example.org) in the NHS Media Center as soon as possible.
Student/Athletes: Don’t forget that a representative from Neff Co will be on the NHS campus tomorrow for jacket fittings and to take Letterman Jacket orders during Lunch A and Lunch B. You can also visit the Neff Co website at https://www.neffjacketshop.com to see your options and/or place your order online. Order forms are also available in the NHS Front Office.
Tryouts for the boys’ basketball teams will be on Monday (October 31st) beginning at 3:30 pm. Please make sure to have all your forms turned in. Please see Coach Roundtree if you have any questions.
Seniors, representatives from Herff Jones will return to the NHS campus on Tuesday (November 1st) and Wednesday (November 2nd) to accept orders and deposits in the NHS Commons Area during Lunch A and Lunch B.
Representatives from the US Army will be on the NHS campus on Tuesday (November 1st) during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) will be given on the NHS campus during the school day on Tuesday (November 8th) to any student in 10th through 12th grade. This is an informative aptitude test used to determine qualification for enlistment in the military. Make sure to stop by the NHS Guidance Office to sign up if you are interested in taking the ASVAB Test. Remember, this test is only given once a year so don’t miss your chance to take it!
Panthers, please remember that as the weather begins to turn cooler outside, blankets are not allowed at school. Also, you must still follow all dress code policies, including not wearing pajamas, slippers, or any type of head coverings. Only appropriate warm-weather clothing is permitted to be worn on campus.
We want all our Panthers to remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
Dress Code: Make sure your school attire is appropriate and not distracting. You may not wear baggy/saggy pants and bottoms will not be shorter than “mid thigh”. Tops must cover the midriff, back, and sides of the body at all times. You may not wear bedroom slippers or shoes with wheels. Head coverings of any kind are not permitted to be worn inside. Failure to follow the dress code guidelines may result in lunch detention.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day throughout the summer for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
