October 28, 2022 Announcements
It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!
Here are the announcements for Friday, October 28th:
We want to remind everyone that costumes are not permitted to be worn on Monday (October 31st). Despite that day being the Halloween holiday, all students must comply with dress code requirements. Make sure your school attire is appropriate and not distracting.
We still have ECF Chromebook laptops available for distribution to any NHS student. These laptops are equipped with 4G LTE, which will allow school-based internet access for homework and school projects. If you are interested in obtaining a laptop for your child, please contact Ms. Steele (firstname.lastname@example.org) in the NHS Media Center as soon as possible.
Tryouts for the boys’ basketball teams will be on Monday (October 31st) beginning at 3:30 pm. Please make sure to have all your forms turned in. Please see Coach Roundtree if you have any questions.
Seniors, representatives from Herff Jones will return to the NHS campus on Tuesday (November 1st) and Wednesday (November 2nd) to accept orders and deposits in the NHS Commons Area during Lunch A and Lunch B.
Representatives from the US Army will be on the NHS campus on Tuesday (November 1st) during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
Our Annual Holiday Food Drive is going on now and we need your help! Each year, we try to fill boxes with items to provide Thanksgiving dinners for 30 of our Panther families. Each 1st period class has a box with a list of all the items necessary for the box to be complete. Feel free to put extra items in the box, but the box will only "count" if it contains everything on the list. We have a "Box Drive Banner" displayed in the NHS Commons Area to keep track of how we are doing in terms of our goal and the 1st period class that collects the most boxes will win a gourmet breakfast party!
Panthers, please remember that as the weather begins to turn cooler outside, blankets are not allowed at school. Also, you must still follow all dress code policies, including not wearing pajamas, slippers, or any type of head coverings. Only appropriate warm-weather clothing is permitted to be worn on campus.
We want all our Panthers to remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
Phones and Headphones: These must be off and out of sight, both in class and during class changes. Cell phones, earbuds, air pods, headphones, and other electronic devices are only permitted to be in use before and after school, and during lunch periods. Students who are discovered to have any types of these devices may result in disciplinary action.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
