August 18, 2023 Announcements
It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!

Here are the announcements for Friday, August 18th:
Representatives from the Santa Fe Achieve Program will be in the NHS Media Center every Monday and Wednesday. This program provides students with mentoring opportunities during high school and coaches students on career exploration, time management, financial aid, and more. Make sure to stop by and get more information if you are interested.
Representatives from the US Army National Guard are scheduled to be on the NHS campus on Monday (August 21st) during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
Parking Permits will be issued to students soon, so make sure to listen for the announcements. Additionally, please make sure to park ONLY in the designated parking areas, specifically the Senior lot next to the Main Building and the Junior lot, which is the fenced area next to that. NO parking is allowed in any other areas on campus, including along the side of the NHS Gym or football field.
Get your dancing shoes! The Student Government Association (SGA) is proud to host the return of the NHS Homecoming Dance. The Dance will be held on Saturday (September 16th) to kick off this year’s Homecoming Week. Tickets are only $15.00 and will go on sale starting on Monday (September 4th) before school in Mr. Marlowe’s classroom.
Mark your calendars! This year, the Homecoming Football game will be against the Chiefland Indians on Friday (September 22nd). The SGA will begin holding nominations for the Homecoming Court on Friday (September 1st) in the East TA. Final elections for the Homecoming Court will take place on Friday (September 8th) in the East TA.
We want all our Panthers to remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
Our goal is to share information which is given to our Panthers daily. These posts are also shared on our NHS website (https://www.sbac.edu/newberryhigh) and remain available there for the entire school year.
Today’s Reminder:
Dress Code: Make sure your school attire is appropriate and not distracting. You may not wear baggy/saggy pants and bottoms will not be shorter than “mid thigh”. Tops must cover the midriff, back, and sides of the body at all times. You may not wear bedroom slippers or shoes with wheels. Head coverings of any kind are not permitted to be worn inside. Failure to follow the dress code guidelines may result in lunch detention.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
