December 13, 2023 Announcements

It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 🐾
Here are the announcements for Wednesday, December 13th:
Panthers, don’t forget that Semester 1 Exams/Tests will be given next week on December 18, 19, and 20. All classes will be administering an exam/test under this schedule so we are asking that you make sure to be on time and prepared each day.
NHS is becoming the first traditional 1:1 Technology School in Alachua County. This means every student will be given a laptop for use during their entire high school career at NHS. The best part of this program is that there is no cost to any student or their family. Even if your child has already received a Chromebook or has access to a computer at home, it is important for your child to be assigned a laptop as it will allow for digital textbooks and seamless transitions between classwork, testing, and homework. Please visit the NHS website ( for more information or contact Mr. Sheppard if you have any questions.
The National Honor Society is still selling Candy Grams in the NHS Commons Area during Lunch A and Lunch B for the holidays. Make sure to stop by and order yours to send to your favorite Panthers and NHS staff!
Students, please remember that even though it is getting cooler outside blankets are not allowed at school. Also, you must still follow all dress code policies, including not wearing pajamas, slippers, or any type of head coverings. If you have any questions, please see Dean Burford or Dean Yarn.
The Robotics Club will meet before school tomorrow at 8:00 am in Ms. Troy’s classroom.
Panthers, make sure to come out and get some sweet treats! The National Honor Society is hosting a Dessert Auction on Friday (December 15th) beginning at 5:00 pm in the NHS Auditorium in support of the Dance Marathon. Don’t miss out on some yummy goodness!!
We want all our Panthers to remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
Today’s Reminder:
Food and Drinks: There should be no food or drinks in the buildings which are from outside campus. NHS is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave campus for lunch. Additionally, you may not have food dropped off or delivered to you. Students are not allowed to bring Polar Cups or “to go” cups to campus. Water bottles are encouraged and we have several bottle filling stations around campus.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something ( “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
