December 15, 2023 Announcements

It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 🐾
Here are the announcements for Friday, December 15th:
Panthers, make sure to come out and get some sweet treats! The National Honor Society is hosting a Dessert Auction tonight beginning at 5:00 pm in the NHS Auditorium in support of the Dance Marathon. Don’t miss out on some yummy goodness!!
Panthers, don’t forget that Semester 1 Exams/Tests will begin next week with 1st and 4th periods exams/tests being given on Monday (December 18th). All classes will be administering an exam/test under this schedule so we are asking that you make sure to be on time and prepared.
Voting for Senior Superlative is continuing through Monday (December 18th). Please visit the NHS Yearbook Website in order to cast your vote. Final voting will take place after Winter Break.
Panthers, please remember that our Winter Break will begin on Friday (December 22nd) and will continue until we return to campus on Monday, January 8, 2024.
NHS is becoming the first traditional 1:1 Technology School in Alachua County. This means every student will be given a laptop for use during their entire high school career at NHS. The best part of this program is that there is no cost to any student or their family. Even if your child has already received a Chromebook or has access to a computer at home, it is important for your child to be assigned a laptop as it will allow for digital textbooks and seamless transitions between classwork, testing, and homework. Please visit the NHS website (https://www.sbac.edu/newberryhigh) for more information or contact Mr. Sheppard if you have any questions.
Students, please remember that even though it is getting cooler outside blankets are not allowed at school. Also, you must still follow all dress code policies, including not wearing pajamas, slippers, or any type of head coverings. If you have any questions, please see Dean Burford or Dean Yarn.
We want all our Panthers to remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
Today’s Reminder:
Phones and Headphones: These must be off and out of sight during class, unless your teacher gives specific permission for use. Cell phones, earbuds, airpods, headphones, and other electronic devices are only permitted to be in use before and after school, and during lunch periods. Students who have any types of these devices out when not permitted may receive disciplinary action.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
