December 18, 2023 Announcements

It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 🐾
Here are the announcements for Monday, December 18th:
Students, please remember that even though it is getting cooler outside blankets are not allowed at school. Also, you must still follow all dress code policies, including not wearing pajamas, slippers, or any type of head coverings. If you have any questions, please see Dean Burford or Dean Yarn.
Semester 1 Exams/Tests will continue tomorrow with 2nd and 5th period exams/tests being given to students. Students will take exams/tests for 3rd and 6th periods on Wednesday (December 20th). All classes will be administering an exam/test under this schedule so we are asking that you make sure to be on time and prepared.
Panthers, don’t forget there is a full school day on Thursday (December 21st) and Winter Break begins on Friday (December 22nd) through Monday (January 8th).
NHS is becoming the first traditional 1:1 Technology School in Alachua County. This means every student will be given a laptop for use during their entire high school career at NHS. The best part of this program is that there is no cost to any student or their family. Even if your child has already received a Chromebook or has access to a computer at home, it is important for your child to be assigned a laptop as it will allow for digital textbooks and seamless transitions between classwork, testing, and homework. Please visit the NHS website (https://www.sbac.edu/newberryhigh) for more information or contact Mr. Sheppard if you have any questions.
We want all our Panthers to remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
Today’s Reminder:
Tardies: Tardies impact school success and student behavior, are a distraction to all students, and cause a disruption in teaching. Make sure you’re on time every day, to every class. Excessive tardies may result in lunch detention or ISD.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
