January 8, 2024 Announcements
It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!
Here are the announcements for Monday, January 8th:
We were very excited to welcome all our Panthers back to campus today after our Winter Break. Please remember there is no school on Friday (January 12th), which is a Teacher Workday, and no school on Monday (January 15th) in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
There will be a meeting today after school in the NHS Media Center from 3:10 pm until 4:30 pm for any students interested in participating in the Panther track team this year. Please see Coach Roundtree if you have any questions.
IMPORTANT! Beginning tomorrow, any cars that are parked in the lot by the bus depot at Newberry High School WILL BE TOWED. This is not a designated parking area on the NHS Campus and cars parked there will be towed from campus. Please see Mr. Treese to purchase a parking permit for the junior/senior parking lots if you still need one.
Students, please remember that even though it is getting cooler outside blankets are not allowed at school. Also, you must still follow all dress code policies, including not wearing pajamas, slippers, or any type of head coverings. If you have any questions, please see Dean Burford or Dean Yarn.
The Robotics Club will meet before school tomorrow at 8:00 am in Ms. Troy’s classroom. Don’t be late!
Anyone interested in playing baseball this year, arm care and conditioning will start tomorrow (January 9th) immediately after school at the NHS Baseball Field. Tryouts will be held on Monday (January 22nd).
The 2nd Semester of the 2023-24 school year will begin when we return to school on Tuesday (January 16th). Make sure all missing school work and exams are completed and turned in as soon as possible!
Distribution of laptops will begin when we return to school on Tuesday (January 16th). Thank you to everyone who has successfully submitted the Computer Agreement Acknowledgement. If you have not already done so, please complete the form and return it to NHS as soon as possible. It is important for your child to be assigned a laptop as it will allow for digital textbooks and seamless transitions between classwork, testing, and homework. Please visit the NHS website (https://www.sbac.edu/newberryhigh) for more information or contact Mr. Sheppard if you have any questions.
Representatives from the US Marine Corps are scheduled to be on the NHS campus tomorrow during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
Representatives from the Santa Fe Achieve Program will be back in the NHS Media Center on Wednesday (January 10th). Make sure to stop by and get more information if you are interested.
Hope Squad will meet on Wednesday (January 10th) during Lunch A and Lunch B in the NHS Auditorium. If you are interested in participating, make sure to get your lunches and head on in!
Seniors don’t forget to order your caps and gowns for graduation. Prices are expected to increase soon so don’t wait! Order forms are available in the NHS Front Office or online at www.HerffJones.com.
We want all our Panthers to remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
Phones and Headphones: These must be off and out of sight during class, unless your teacher gives specific permission for use. Cell phones, earbuds, airpods, headphones, and other electronic devices are only permitted to be in use before and after school, and during lunch periods. Students who have any types of these devices out when not permitted may receive disciplinary action.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
