January 11, 2024 Announcements
It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!
Here are the announcements for Thursday, January 11th:
Please remember there is no school tomorrow, due to a(Teacher Workday, and no school on Monday (January 15th), in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Panthers, schedules for the 2nd semester will be distributed on Tuesday (January 16th). Make sure to look for your name on the published lists when you get to campus on Tuesday morning, and the 1st period teacher listed will have your new schedules.
IMPORTANT! Starting this week, any cars that are parked in the lot by the bus depot will be towed. This is not a designated parking area on the NHS Campus and cars parked there will be towed from campus. Please see Mr. Treese to purchase a parking permit for $30.00 if you still need one either before or after school.
The Robotics Club will meet before school on Tuesday (January 16th) at 8:00 am in Ms. Troy’s classroom. Don’t be late!
Hope Squad will meet on Tuesday (January 16th) during Lunch A and Lunch B in the NHS Auditorium. Get your lunches and head on in!
Representatives from the US Marine Corps are scheduled to be on the NHS campus on Tuesday (January 16th) during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
Softball evaluations and conditioning will begin on Tuesday (January 16th) from 3:30 pm until 5:00 pm at the NHS Softball Field. Please bring running attire, softball gloves, masks, and cleats. You must have an up-to-date physical form to participate. See Coach Johnson or (Mrs.) Coach Roundtree if you have any questions.
Distribution of laptops will begin when we return to school on Tuesday (January 16th). Thank you to everyone who has successfully submitted the Computer Agreement Acknowledgement. If you have not already done so, please complete the form and return it to NHS as soon as possible. It is important for your child to be assigned a laptop as it will allow for digital textbooks and seamless transitions between classwork, testing, and homework. Please visit the NHS website (https://www.sbac.edu/newberryhigh) for more information or contact Mr. Sheppard if you have any questions.
There will be an informational meeting next Wednesday (January 17th) at 8:00 am for any Lady Panthers interested in playing tennis this year in Mr. Marlowe’s classroom.
Representatives from Santa Fe College will be on the NHS campus on Wednesday (January 17th) during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about dual enrollment opportunities for next year. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
Baseball tryouts will be held on Monday (January 22nd) right after school. If you have any questions, see Coach Roundtree.
Seniors don’t forget to order your caps and gowns for graduation. Prices are expected to increase soon so don’t wait! Order forms are available in the NHS Front Office or online at www.HerffJones.com.
We want all our Panthers to remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
Food and Drinks: There should be no food or drinks in the buildings which are from outside campus. NHS is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave campus for lunch. Additionally, you may not have food dropped off or delivered to you. Students are not allowed to bring Polar Cups or “to go” cups to campus. Water bottles are encouraged and we have several bottle filling stations around campus.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
