October 29, 2024 Announcements
It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!
Here are the announcements for Tuesday, October 29th:
REMINDER: NHS is a closed campus and students are not permitted to leave campus for lunch. Additionally, students may not have food dropped off or delivered to them at campus. Students are not allowed to bring Polar Cups or “to go” cups to campus. Water bottles are encouraged and we have several bottle filling stations around campus.
Don’t forget that the ASVAB will be given on the NHS campus during the school day on Wednesday (November 6th) to any interested 10th through 12th grade student. This test is an informative aptitude test and is used to determine qualification for enlistment in the military. This test is only given once a year so don’t miss your chance to take it!
REMINDER: Costumes are not permitted to be worn on Thursday (October 31st). Despite that day being the Halloween holiday, all students must comply with dress code requirements. Make sure your school attire is appropriate and not distracting.
Seniors, Mr. Marlowe is now accepting deposits for the trip to Grad Bash at Universal Studios on Saturday (April 5, 2025). The cost of a ticket is $140.00 and you MUST be off the debt list to purchase your ticket. At this time, there are only 50 guaranteed seats available and students can place a 50% deposit of $70.00 to hold a ticket. Tickets are limited, so make sure to get yours before they’re all gone!
After school CROP sessions for students who are credit deficient for graduation will continue this school this week (today through Thursday) in Ms. Burkett’s classroom from 3:00 pm until 6:15 pm. There are many remaining dates and it’s not too late to participate! If you have any questions, please contact the NHS Guidance Office ASAP.
Representatives from the US Army are scheduled to be on the NHS campus tomorrow during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
The Freshmen SGA will meet before school tomorrow at 8:00 am in the NHS Media Center.
The National Honor Society will meet tomorrow before school at 8:10 am in Mrs. Troy’s classroom.
Representatives from the Santa Fe Achieve Program will be back in the NHS Media Center tomorrow. Make sure to stop by and get more information if you are interested.
We are committed to the success of ALL our students! Panthers, please remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
TODAY’S REMINDER:
Dress Code: Make sure your school attire is appropriate and not distracting. You may not wear baggy/saggy pants and bottoms will not be shorter than “mid thigh”. Tops must cover the midriff, back, and sides of the body at all times. You may not wear bedroom slippers or shoes with wheels. Head coverings of any kind are not permitted to be worn inside. Failure to follow the dress code guidelines may result in lunch detention.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
