It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 

Here are the announcements for Monday, February 10th:
REMINDER: For the safety and security of everyone on campus, please DO NOT open the entrance gate for anyone, even if you think you may know them. Students and visitors MUST ONLY be let into our campus by staff in the NHS Front Office. If you are asked to open the gate, please let them know that they must ring the bell to be buzzed in.
We know that Valentine’s Day is this Friday; however, please remember that flowers, balloons, food, or other items may not be delivered or brought to the Newberry High School campus. Please make other arrangements for your sweetheart, friend, or child on that day.
Please remember that school will be in session on Friday (February 14th) as the final makeup day for the school closures due to the Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
Please remember there is NO SCHOOL on Monday (February 17th) due to a Teacher/Student holiday in observance of President’s Day, a celebration of the birthdays and lives of all U.S. presidents.
After school CROP sessions for students who are credit deficient for graduation will begin today after school and continue through Thursday (February 13th) in Ms. Burkett’s classroom from 3:00 pm until 5:30 pm. If you have any questions, please contact the NHS Guidance Office ASAP.
TIME IS RUNNING OUT! Any Juniors and Seniors who are interested in attending the Santa Fe College Careers In Construction Day on Thursday (February 13th), make sure to stop by the NHS Guidance Office to pick up a field trip form. There are only a few spots left!
Seniors, DON’T LOSE YOUR SEAT! If you put a deposit down for Grad Bash at Universal Studios, it is now time to pay off any remaining balance owed. Please see Mr. Marlowe no later than Friday (February 14th) in order to keep your seat!
Candygrams are now on sale in the NHS Media Center for Valentine’s Day. The cost is $2.00 per candygram, so stop by to order yours to send to your friends, family, teachers, and siblings!
The Sophomore SGA will meet before school tomorrow at 8:00 am in Mrs. Troy’s classroom.
Representatives from the US Marine Corps are scheduled to be on the NHS campus tomorrow during Lunch A and Lunch B to provide information about military service after graduation. Make sure to stop by if you’d like to receive information.
The Spanish Club will hold a meeting after school tomorrow from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm in Seňora Santiago’s classroom. Te esperamos!
The Freshmen SGA will meet before school on Wednesday (February 12th) at 8:00 am in the NHS Media Center.
The NHS Book Club will hold a meeting after school on Wednesday (February 12th) from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm in Ms. Talkington’s classroom in the Science Building. All are welcome!
Representatives from the Santa Fe Achieve Program will be back in the NHS Media Center on Wednesday (February 12th). Make sure to stop by and get more information if you are interested in this fantastic program. February is Black History Month. Each day we will be showcasing notable Black inventors and/or African Americans who have made significant contributions in various fields. Benjamin Banneker was a mathematician and an astronomer who created one of the first almanacs in America and was influential in surveying Washington, D.C.
The UF Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers is hosting a Shadow Day. Please see your school counselor if you are interested in attending.

TODAY’S REMINDER:
Dress Code: Make sure your school attire is appropriate and not distracting. You may not wear baggy/saggy pants and bottoms will not be shorter than “mid thigh”. Tops must cover the midriff, back, and sides of the body at all times. You may not wear bedroom slippers or shoes with wheels. Head coverings of any kind are not permitted to be worn inside. Failure to follow the dress code guidelines may result in lunch detention.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult.
