February 13, 2025 Announcements

It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 🐾
Here are the announcements for Thursday, February 13th:
We know that tomorrow is Valentine’s Day; however, please remember that flowers, balloons, food, or other items may not be delivered or brought to the Newberry High School campus. Please make other arrangements for your sweetheart, friend, or child.
REMINDER: ALL STUDENTS parking on NHS school property MUST have a parking decal and parking is ONLY permitted in designated areas (junior and senior parking lots). NO parking is allowed in any other areas on campus, including along the gym or the football field. If you park in any unauthorized area on the NHS campus, your vehicle is subject to being towed from the property.
DON’T FORGET there will be school tomorrow as the final makeup day for school closures due to Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
There is NO SCHOOL on Monday (February 17th) due to a Teacher/Student holiday in observance of President’s Day, a celebration of the birthdays and lives of all U.S. presidents.
After school CROP sessions for students who are credit deficient for graduation will continue after school today in Ms. Burkett’s classroom from 3:00 pm until 5:30 pm. If you have any questions, please contact the NHS Guidance Office ASAP.
The FCA will have a meeting tomorrow before school at 8:10 am in the NHS Gym. If you’d like to become involved, make sure to stop by!
February is Black History Month. Each day we will be showcasing notable Black inventors and/or African Americans who have made significant contributions in various fields. Today we celebrate Elijah McCoy, an inventor known for his innovations in lubrication systems for steam engines, leading to the phrase "the real McCoy."
We are committed to the success of ALL our students! Panthers, please remember the Panther way to Success:
*Be Reliable - Maintain consistency with what you say and do
*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
TODAY’S REMINDER:
Dress Code: Make sure your school attire is appropriate and not distracting. You may not wear baggy/saggy pants and bottoms will not be shorter than “mid thigh”. Tops must cover the midriff, back, and sides of the body at all times. You may not wear bedroom slippers or shoes with wheels. Head coverings of any kind are not permitted to be worn inside. Failure to follow the dress code guidelines may result in lunch detention.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
