April 9, 2025 Announcements

It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 🐾
Here are the announcements for Wednesday, April 9th:
REMINDER: Panthers, don't forget to bring your laptop and charging cord to school EVERY DAY as most of the testing this year will be done on the laptops. Additionally, these laptops provide important access to digital textbooks and assist students in transitioning between classwork, testing, and homework. (If your laptop has stopped working or has other operational issues, please bring it so the NHS Site Tech, Mr. Phillips, can investigate and diagnose any issues.)
After school CROP sessions for students who are credit deficient for graduation will continue after school today in Ms. Burkett’s classroom from 3:00 pm until 6:15 pm. There are many remaining dates and it’s not too late to participate! If you have any questions, please contact the NHS Guidance Office ASAP.
The AP Government/Pol exam will be given in a few weeks. If you took AP Government/Pol during the first semester of this school year, please visit Mr. LeBlanc’s classroom to sign up for exam prep help.
Report Cards for the 3rd nine weeks of this school year are now available in Skyward. If you have any issues in viewing the report card or are unable to access Skyward, please contact Mrs. Honeycutt in the NHS Guidance Office for assistance.
Practices for the Miss NHS Pageant will continue after school today and tomorrow in the NHS Auditorium. Don’t be late!
Class of 2025: Nominations for Prom King and Queen will be taken this Friday (April 11th) in the NHS Auditorium before school, and during Lunch A and Lunch B. Don’t miss your chance to nominate or be nominated!
The FCA will have a meeting this Friday (April 11th) before school at 8:10 am in the NHS Gym. If you’d like to become involved, make sure to stop by!
The Miss NHS Pageant will be held on Friday (April 11th) in the NHS Auditorium beginning at 7:00 pm. Don't miss out on your chance to see the crowning of this year's winners!
Students, please remember that the NHS campus buildings are closed everyday at 3:10 pm, and students may not remain in any of the NHS buildings after 3:10 pm. Only students under the direct supervision of an NHS faculty or staff member while participating in a club meeting or athletic event may remain indoors. If you have any questions, please speak with an NHS administrator.
Seniors, there are still tickets available for the NHS Prom to be held on
Saturday (April 19th) at Granville Plantation for $80.00 (payable by cash or check). See Mrs. Brady in her classroom before or after school to purchase your ticket and get ready to have a wonderful, magical, and memorable evening!
It’s time to elect your Student Government Association for 2025-26. Have you ever wanted to be involved and help run the student events on campus? Do you want to help make decisions? Here’s your chance. See Mr. Marlowe sometime this week to pick up your candidate packet. The forms will be due on Friday (April 11th), and the election will be Friday (April 18th). Don't wait, get started today!
ACPS is continuing its Beyond the Bell program, offering virtual after-school counseling and academic advising to help boost academic achievement and emotional wellness for students. For more information, visit: www.sbac.edu/BeyondTheBell.
Seniors, don’t forget to order your caps and gowns for graduation. Time is running out!
We are committed to the success of ALL our students! Panthers, please remember the Panther Way to Success:

*Be Respectful - Show consideration of someone or something
*Be Responsible - Be dependable, keep promises, and honor commitments
TODAY’S REMINDER:
Phones and Headphones: These must be off and out of sight during class, unless your teacher gives specific permission for use. Cell phones, earbuds, airpods, headphones, and other electronic devices are only permitted to be in use before and after school, and during lunch periods. Students who have any types of these devices out when not permitted may receive disciplinary action.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts every day for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
