Game Recap against Forest Wildcats

Forest Wildcats Game Recap:

What Happened:  The Gainesville Lady Canes took the field Tuesday at 7 PM for their second home game of the season, facing off against the Forest Wildcats. The Wildcats struck first in the opening inning with a run from Maury Lingle, but Lady Canes pitcher McKenna O’Sullivan (#51) responded with a solid performance in the circle, delivering well-placed pitches to keep the damage minimal.

The Lady Canes answered back in the second inning after two Wildcats walked, putting O’Sullivan on first and senior Madisyn Gillins (#10) on second. A clutch hit to center field by Braylin Cook (#27) allowed Gillins to cross the plate, tying the game at 1-1.

The momentum shifted in the sixth inning with both teams threatening to score. The Wildcats loaded the bases, but Braylin Cook (#27) came up big defensively, securing a crucial out on Rylin Fountain (#22) with a drop third strike to prevent Forest from taking the lead.

Gainesville then turned up the pressure, loading the bases themselves. Senior Madisyn Gillins drew a walk, setting up Leanna Bourdage (#14) on third, Josie Kirwan (#13) on second, and herself at first. With the game on the line, O’Sullivan (#51) delivered a key hit to center, allowing Bourdage (#14) and Kirwan (#13) to race home, sealing a 3-1 victory for the Lady Canes.

What it Means: This game sets the Hurricane’s season score up to 4-5, with this being their second win in a row.
