Counselors’ Corner

  •  Rawlings Kindergarteners Learn Safety Skills

Our kindergarteners are learning skills to help them stay safe, through the Safer, Smarter Kids program in their classrooms. 77% of students who had this curriculum in their classroom last year made improvements in their safety skills.

Ask your kindergarten student to tell you about what he or she has learned:

    • His or her Safety Stop Sign

    • The “I mean business” voice that each person has,

    • His or her Trusted Triangle (& Grown-Up Buddies)

    • How to Think-Feel-Act,

    • The difference in Safe and Unsafe Secrets

    • The difference in Safe and Unsafe Touches

    • The difference in Tattling and Reporting

Our kindergarteners will be completing and graduating from the Safer, Smarter Kids program in mid-October.  Check out the Online Parent Toolkit for videos about the skills your child is learning.
