Curriculum Overview

  • Middle school children learn important skills and knowledge through direct instruction from their teachers, collaboration with peers, opportunities for problem-solving, and independent mastery. Instructional technology is used to engage students in critical thinking, research using approved resources, and communication of their ideas. Students develop concepts and knowledge in:

    • Mathematics
    • English Language Arts
    • Science
    • Social Studies
    • Reading
    • Art, Computers, Speech and Debate, Drama, Chorus, Drums and Band
    • Physical Education and Health

    Students in Gifted classes take the following:

    • In 6th grade: Gifted Reading and Gifted Comprehensive Science 1
    • In 7th grade: Gifted Comprehensive Science 2 and Gifted Reading
    • In 8th grade: Gifted Comprehensive Science 3 and Gifted U.S. History
