Curriculum Overview

  • The faculty and staff at Prairie View Elementary are committed to providing a challenging and enriching educational program with a well-rounded curriculum that meets the needs of all levels of learners.
    Our curriculum is based on Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards

    Reading
    Benchmark Advance, is the district-adopted core reading series that addresses the Reading/Language Arts Florida State Standards.

    Teachers may supplement their reading instruction with other reading programs and/or children’s literature.

    Math
    Go Math is the district-adopted core math series that addresses the Mathematics Florida State Standards.


    Science
    HMH Florida Science is the district-adopted program that is used to teach the Science Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS).

    In addition to these core content areas, as well as their Writing and Social Studies instruction, our students receive weekly Music, Art, Technology and PE classes.


    Our Enrichment program focuses on providing a more rigorous curriculum as outlined by the grade specific NGSSS, and also on developing students’ critical thinking skills.

    Students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) are provided a continuum of services through our Exceptional Student Education program. We strive to provide the most appropriate setting that meets the unique needs of each individual student.
