Common Questions from Our Parents…

  • Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check my child in late or check my child out early?

For Headstart: All Parents must sign their child into and out of class with the teacher.  A photo ID is required.

For Kindergarten: Students arriving tardy to school (after 7:30) must be signed in at the front office; school staff will walk them to class. Check outs are also done through the front office. Students may only be checked out by an adult listed on the emergency card. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Where do I drop off my Kindergarten child?

Students may be dropped off by vehicle in the back parking lot for breakfast in the morning. There is a designated lane to stop and drop off your child.

Where do I pick up my Kindergarten child?

The school gates, located in the back of the building, will open for dismissal and vehicle pick up at 1:15 (M, T, Th, F) & 12:00 (W).

This is a NO PARKING ZONE.

Remain in your vehicle, and continue to pull forward with the flow of traffic. Please place the parent pick up sign in your front passenger window of your vehicle. This ensures efficiency in calling students names and assisting them safely.

May I eat breakfast or lunch with my child?

You may have breakfast with your child. Please park in a designated parking spot and walk with your child into the cafeteria.

You may have lunch with your child, but you are required to check in through the office first.

Students eat free. Adults are required to buy their meal.

I need to speak to my child’s teacher. Can I come in early one morning and go to the classroom?

Not without an appointment. Mornings are busy times for our teachers as they are preparing for the school day, so please email your child’s teacher to arrange a convenient time to meet with or call her/him. Remember to include your phone number in the email. In the event that you do not have email access, the front office staff will be happy to take a message from you and send it to the teacher. Teachers will respond within 24 hours.

How do I get my child’s teacher email address?

All school employees have the same ending to their email address: Email addresses are listed on our Faculty and Staff page.

My child usually rides the bus home but I need him to be a car rider today. Can I call or send an email to make that change?

We cannot accept transportation changes over the phone or by email. Send in a written note with your child the morning you want her/him to be a car rider and we will take care of those arrangements for you. Please include the name of your child’s teacher and the make and color of your vehicle (example, Gold Honda Accord) in the note.

My child’s birthday is today. Can I bring in cupcakes, balloons and goodie bags?

As stated in the Parent/Student Handbook, birthday parties are not allowed at school, however, cupcakes or cookies may be provided for the class snack. Please email or call your child’s teacher, in advance, to let her/him know you are bringing in a treat. Unless other arrangements are made with the teacher, you may bring in the treat and leave it in the front office. We will email the teacher and she/he will come get it at her/his convenience.

I want to visit my child’s classroom. Do I need to check in the front office first?

Unexpected visitors can be disruptive to the learning environment, therefore we ask that you refrain from visiting the classroom unless you have made arrangements with the teacher. If arrangements are made, you will check in the front office for a visitor pass before proceeding to the classroom.
