The School Counseling Department welcomes all new and returning students and parents to Mebane Middle School. My name is Lilian Weeks and I am your child's school counselor at  Mebane Middle School. I take pride in serving you and look forward to a positive and productive year.

As a School Counselor, my primary responsibilities are to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students. I look forward to offering support to the students, staff, families, and community. I will be meeting with students individually and in small groups, as well as teaching students about character education, career planning,  and bullying prevention via classroom guidance lessons.  In addition, I'll be meeting with parents, participating in EPT's, 504's, and/or IEP's meetings, collaborating with teachers and staff, and consulting with community organizations to benefit and meet the needs of all the students and families of Mebane. Any student can request to meet with me or they can be referred by a teacher, administrator, or parent. I encourage you to reach out if you have any concerns regarding your child. If you would like for me to meet with your child or would like to have a conference with me about your child, please do not hesitate to contact me.

In Case of Us Needing to Transitioning from an In-person to Virtual-- School Counselor

According to the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and the Florida School Counselor Association (FSCA), position on  School counselors working in a virtual setting is to provide a school counseling program through the use of technology and distance (virtual/online/e-learning) counseling with the same standards and adherence to ethics as school counselors working in traditional school settings.

Therefore, my role does not change a whole lot except that, of course, I will be conducting my duties virtually.  I will still be working collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure equity, access and success of all students whether virtually or in person.

For my guidance program I will be utilizing google functions/features quite a bit for the following:

    • Meetings/Conferences with administration, teachers and parents through (google meet, hangout or school email).
    • Student webinars/ppt. presentations/guidance lessons and other informational tools are available through my google classroom for the students. They can also request to meet with me via the same google functions (google meet, hangout or school email)
    • Solution Focused Based Therapy for Small groups or Individual will be coordinated between our social worker-Eldiritha Calderon and myself.

As always, skyward will be another mode of communication.

Please know and share with your child that I am still here to support them, just as I had before—and can help them work and adjust through this transition.

Thank you as always for your continued support.
