Terwilliger Elementary was built to serve the rapidly growing suburbs of Gainesville in 1964. Terwilliger was named for Myra Terwilliger, who was a long-time Principal at J.J. Finley Elementary (now C.W. Parker). Remodeling and new construction was completed at Terwilliger Elementary in 1995 to better accommodate over 700 children at the time. Terwilliger Elementary celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014.
