The Role of School Counselors
Middle school counselors are educators uniquely trained in child and adolescent development, learning strategies, self-management and social skills. They implement a comprehensive school counseling program to support students through this important developmental period. The school counseling program provides education, prevention and intervention activities, which are integrated into all aspects of students’ lives. The program teaches students the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for academic, career and social/emotional development.

Hey Hawks! I am so excited to be joining the Howard Bishop family this year. I was born and raised in Gainesville, and am currently finishing up my M.Ed./Ed.S. in Counselor Education at the University of Florida. As a school counselor, I believe that it is my job to provide the resources and support to help every student thrive. I am really looking forward to working with the teachers, students, and families at Howard Bishop to create compassionate citizens and lifelong learners. Please let me know how I can support you!

Greetings! I am looking forward to working with everyone here at Bishop Middle School. I am returning to Gainesville after being away for many years. I was school counselor at Leto High School in Tampa, Florida for 10 years. Prior to that, I was a Spanish teacher and ESOL teacher. I have always worked in education and believe strongly in providing students and families with all the resources they need to be successful in school and beyond.
