Bus Stops

  • Student safety is our primary concern. Bus stops are carefully selected so that it’s not necessary for students to cross more than two lanes of traffic to reach their stop.

Running to a bus is a safety concern and should be avoided. For safety reasons, bus drivers are not permitted to wait at stops for late arrivals. Parents are responsible for their children while on the way to and from and at the bus stop, including their behavior.

If your home address changes after your child’s been assigned a stop, please notify the school so that a new stop can be arranged. Route coordinators will review the situation using state guidelines to determine whether busing can be provided. Please allow 3-5 days for a bus stop to be arranged. Stops are scheduled based on the student's primary address.

Bus stop locations and pick-up/drop-off times are made available at each school a few days before school starts. They are also available on the district’s website at www.sbac.edu/findmybus.

Tips for students and parents about bus stops include:

    • Students should arrive at the bus stop at least 5 minutes before the scheduled pick-up    time each morning.
    • Do not cross the road before the bus arrives at the stop or after the bus departs from the stop.
    • Do not cross a road wider than two lanes to reach your stop. If a student needs to cross a two-lane road to reach a bus stop, they should wait on their side of the road until the bus arrives. After the driver signals that it is clear to cross, the student should walk across the road ten (10) feet in front of the bus.
    • Stand off the roadway while waiting for the bus.
