    The Academy of Health Professions is a Career Academy Magnet program located on the campus of Gainesville High School.  The focus of the AHP program is to provide experience for students interested in pursuing technical training in health careers.

    The Selection Process consists of:

    • Applying online to the Academy of Health Professions (AHP) 
    • Students may apply to 3 programs in total, and it may be a combination of CTE and Academic programs-Ranking of programs is very important.  

    IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS FOR AHP:

    • 2.5 GPA
    • No more than 4 out of school suspensions
    • No more than 10 unexcused absences
    • Interest in a career in healthcare

    Director : Miranda Williams, MPH, RN, CIC

    Ms. Williams is an experienced Service Team Lead with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital & health care industry. Skilled in Epidemiology, Public Speaking, Infection Control, Healthcare Information Technology (HIT), and Healthcare Management. She is a strong community and social services professional with a Master of Public Health (MPH) focused in Social and Behavioral Sciences from University of Florida and a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Ms. Williams brings over 20 years of industry experience to the classroom, as well as experience as an Adjunct Faculty at Santa Fe College.

    Instructor: Lucinda Wiggins, RN, BSN

    Ms. Wiggins has held her Registered Nurse License since 1995. She has experience as a nurse in several states and hospitals. Her experience includes phlebotomy, case management, patient education, inpatient care on a medical-surgical unit, obstetrics and gynecology, and surgical oncology. Ms. Wiggins is currently pursuing a Master's in Health Education and Behavior from the University of Florida.
