Constellation Charter School Update

  • Due to serious and urgent concerns regarding the safety of students, staff and visitors and multiple violations of state law and its operating charter, Constellation Charter School is being closed immediately, effective at the end of the school day today, Thursday, May 1.

Earlier today, the School Board of Alachua County, which sponsors Constellation Charter School, voted to terminate the school’s charter.

As of tomorrow, Friday, May 2, students must attend their zoned Alachua County Public School or their families must make alternate arrangements for their education.

We understand that this news is sudden and may be distressing. Please know that these actions were taken with the utmost concern for the health, safety and educational needs of your child and all students impacted. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this urgent transition.

To minimize disruption and support families during this sudden transition, the district is streamlining the transfer process. If you live in Alachua County, you do NOT need to complete the district’s online enrollment form. Simply bring two proofs of address and a photo ID to your zoned school starting Friday, May 2. Acceptable proofs of address include a rental or lease agreement, utility bill, deed, sales agreement or property tax bill. School staff will assist you with transportation information if your child is elligibile.

To find your child’s zoned school, visit www.sbac.edu/findmyschool or call the Zoning Office at (352) 955-7700.

If your child resides outside of Alachua County, please contact the school district in which you live for guidance.
