Williams Elementary Magnet Program

  • The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) has approved Alachua County Public Schools' application for Williams Elementary School to be granted candidate status for the prestigious IB Primary Years Programme. Williams is the first IB PYP candidate school in the district's history.

The approval means that beginning in the fall of 2024, IB philosophies and practices will be infused into instruction at Williams Elementary, offering all students a stimulating, challenging learning environment that nurtures the whole child and fosters a lifelong love of learning.  The district and school will work with IBO staff to support Williams as it becomes a fully-authorized PYP.

The Williams PYP will cross subject areas and grade levels, and is based on a model that has been successfully implemented in schools throughout the world, including here in Florida. It is recognized internationally for educational excellence.

Students throughout Alachua County may apply to attend Williams Elementary through the magnet application process. There are still spaces left in some grades, so families who are interested are encouraged to find the application and additional information at www.sbac.edu/magnet.
